The desilusion of a product
Typical of the anguished salesman, I was “over-blowing” my value and making promotional offers which one usually makes in supermarkets: "If you buy one of my paintings you will get one free. It's a good deal!" I promised. "I am well known back home. Trust me!" I added.
Gone were the emotions which had initially inspired me. I was disillusioned. My art, which I had so looked forward to showing the day before, had turned into lifeless products. They weren't my pride anymore, but a burden. I wanted to get rid of them, at any cost.
Needless to say, I didn't sell much. I paid my hotel room in exchange for two paintings and promised I would never put myself in such a reckless and stressful situation again. Unfortunately, I did not live up to my pledge. The same thing happened again, a few months later, when I exhibited in the Valais, Switzerland.
Who says it is easy to be an artist?
