It freaks me out!
I often wonder why I paint. Why do I spend time drawing, splashing paint and colors on canvas? What's the purpose? Why do this? What's in it for me? The first answer that comes to mind is: It freaks me out!
The thought that when we die we may not leave to our family anything more meaningful and outstanding than a few useless items scares me. Yet, I believe we are here with a purpose: that of grabbing and “sucking” as much beauty as we can from this earth. There are many ways to do so and they vary radically from one person to the next.
It's all about finding that very perfect feeling, this unique angle, that moment of pure balance. It's hard to find but it's probably worth the time. When we find this “good time”, creative art is one of the rare ways which permits to seize that moment and pin it for eternity. Painting is one means of accomplishing this and that’s reassuring to me.
