Funny old man

I was searching for an art movie on YouTube when I discovered this funny old man, Andy Rooney, because his name was linked to Picasso. I live in Switzerland so of course, I didn't know Andy Rooney. I checked his name on the Internet and learnt that he was an American journalist who was famous for being straight forward. I wondered who he was, so I clicked and listened to what he had to say.

Hereafter is a summary of his views on poems, abstract painting & Picasso:

"Writer ought to write simple sentences before they can write poems.

I want to see something traditional the sculptor has done I can understand before he gets a license to do this (he is talking about abstract public art).

Picasso earned the right to do anything he wants. His sculptures are art whether I like it or not.

I understand that good art is always ahead of public taste. Most of this stuff (still talking about abstract public art) is certainly ahead of my taste. I don't like it and if I'm wrong, I'm sure you'll correct me"

I enjoy some of the art he doesn't like but I appreciate what he said.
